Equestrians to Volunteer with Kids: If you have extensive horse knowledge (ridden or handled horses for 5 years or more) we NEED YOU!! Every HHH session consists of one HHH volunteer who is horse-knowledgeable and one leader (lead the curriculum session), and possibly one more person to assist. You will teach the children how to tack, groom, shower, handle and mount/dismount. An instructor from the sponsor teaches the riding portion of the session. Availability for 3 hours on Saturday or Sunday for 1-2 weekends per month is necessary to serve in this position. Sponsor barns are located in Delray Beach and Lake Worth. You can "shadow" a group a few times to get an idea if this interests you. Additionally, we've discovered shadowing a few different groups is best way to train for this position.
Newsletter Writer/Editor: We have a template currently. Would like to have a quarterly newsletter. If you're familiar with word and/or Microsoft Publisher, these are two programs on which newsletter can be written. Majority of stories and photos are submitted by volunteers. You will do mostly editing and creating.
Fundraising Committee Members: This position requires attending meetings every 6 weeks (off season which is April-September) and every 4 weeks in season (October – March). Committee members will work on deciding events, venues and finding sponsors.
Writer for Success and Background stories: If you enjoy writing, interviewing, and seeing first-hand the difference our group is making, this may be a great way for you to make a difference with our group. We need someone to interview new parents/guardians to get a story of where the child started with us and some of the difficult challenges he/she is facing. Sensitivity should be given to anonymity. Additionally, once with our group for a time, these kids and parents/guardians have very touching stories with details of the strides their child is making as a result of participation in HHH! The stories you write may be shared on our web site and/or on fundraising and marketing materials.
Public Relations/Marketing: We are continually looking for opportunities to spread the word about the positive changes HHH is making in our kids' lives. This exposure enables our growth by gaining volunteers and financial assistance. If you have public relations experience and can assist in getting articles about HHH placed in local, state and national tv shows and magazines/newspapers, please lend your services to help our cause!
Drivers to and from HHH Sessions: Sometimes the parents/guardians need assistance with getting their children to and from sessions. Most sessions take place in Lake Worth or Delray Beach. Most children live within 10 minutes of their respective sponsor barn. A good driving record and insurance are required.
Birthday Tracker: Recognizing our childrens' and volunteers' birthdays. You will keep the calendar and notify Operations Committee when a birthday is upcoming. Also will send out a card and gift card on behalf of our group?!
Advisory Committee: Mental Health Professional: Because we don' have mental health professionals on staff, occasionally we could benefit for a consultation regarding a situation for guidance. If you are a licensed counselor or therapist, please contact us to share your interest in this position.
Equestrian Ambassador: If you have connections with a particular discipline (Polo, jumping, dressage, reining, ets.) we would enjoy making contacts in this discipline to both promote our group and bring attention to your specific discipline. Many times leaders in disciplines realize the imperitive nature in attracting youth to it to extend the popularity and life of the discipline. The collaboration of our two groups can result in a mutually beneficial public relations story in local magazines.
Professional Riders/Trainers: We are continually looking for motivating opportunities to offer our kids. If you could offer a lesson to one of our advanced riders once a month or so or the opportunity for them to "shadow" your working student for a few hours, you cannot imagine the difference this makes in their lives. This opportunity gives them a rare opportunity to see the inner workings of a high-level facility and dreams for which to strive. Additionally, you can be listed on our site as "friends of HHH," which gives your facility exposure and recognition for your contributions to our program.
Medical Professionals in equine Industry: If you are a vet, equine dentist, farrier, or chiropractor, we would love to have a 20-30 minute interactive lesson/workshop on anything you'd like to teach on. (For example: Farriers could go over a hoof display.)
